No protein/peptide is from animal origin
MDCK cells grown in serum-containing medium can be sub-cultured directly into Plus MDCK SFM without adaptation.
Cell densities and virus titers achieved in Plus MDCK SFM are comparable to those in serum-added culture.
Lot-to-lot consistency
Plus MDCK SFM medium is developed for MDCK cell culture for both research and production applications. The medium is formulated without any animal-derived component to ease regulatory concerns. In addition, no plant yeast extract, peptone, and other complexes are presented, enabling easier downstream product purification. It provides superior cell growth and enhances virus titer/protein productivity.
Both liquid and powder forms of Plus MDCK SFM are available.

Principle:
Plus MDCK SFM is a component-defined, animal component-free and ultra-low protein medium, designed specifically for the growth of MDCK cell line.
Performance:
Plus MDCK SFM has been granted for use in pandemic Avian Flu vaccine development in National Health Research Institutes, Taiwan. The data shows a 10-fold virus titer and 2~3 folds higher in HA production from processes using this medium compared to those using other commercial media. The high-performance, serum-free Plus MDCK SFM medium ensures the safety and quality for vaccine production.
